Attitudes towards the West
This issue of the Caucasus Analytical Digest examines US–Caucasus relations. Firstly, Mikayel Zolyan discusses Armenia's balanced foreign policy toward Russia, Iran and the US, commonly referred to as 'complementarism.' Secondly, Fariz Ismailzade argues that President Barack Obama's reset of US–Russia relations threatens to undermine the West's relations with the South Caucasus, a region that remains strategically important. Finally, George Khelashvili expands on the aforementioned issue, arguing that the Obama administration has struggled to make sense of Georgia's place in US foreign policy. The final article examines public opinion in the South Caucasus toward the West.
